I hope that you all had a wonderful Resurrection Day and I would be remiss if I didn’t get a post up about why this day means so much to me.

First I want to say that I am sorry for the unplanned hiatus and I will strive diligently to get back to a regular posting schedule.   I have a few posts planned for this week, recapping My family adventure to Wondercon in Anaheim.

Now on to the Post.

Easter is arguably the most important Christian Holy Day.  It is not just about the Resurrection, but actually the Resurrection of Jesus is the beginning of the denouement of the Jesus Story.  The point right after the climax of the second act.  Jesus died for our sins.  If the story of Jesus ended with his death that would be one amazing story, because of the amazing love that Jesus shows to us in the fact that his death is meant to cover all our transgressions and sins.  But the story doesn’t end there it goes on to show us that the grave couldn’t stop Jesus, nor his work.  Jesus Rose from the dead along with that the movement of faith known as Christianity also rose.

The idea of resurrection is found all over the geekverse, from rpg’s to movies, and tv to books.  One scene from my youth pops into my head.

Elliot says, “Look at what they’ve done to you. I’m so sorry. You must be dead, ’cause I don’t know how to feel. I can’t feel anything anymore. You’ve gone someplace else now. I’ll believe in you all my life, every day. E.T., I love you.”

This theme is so common that if a character dies in a show we often hold on hope that there is a chance that character can come back to life.  We are enamored with the idea of life after death.  It is for a good reason Jesus promises us that this will be the case, and no it’s not the going to be the Walking Dead, with a world full of zombies.  What the bible teaches is that we will be reunited with God, in a new body.  1 Corinthians 15:42-44 says that we will have a new body.

42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

I do not know what this body will really look like or be like, but I do know that it is going to be simply amazing.
